The Baton Rouge Center for World Affairs

 

 

The BRCWA InTeam is a close-knit team of interns who contribute their talents and passion for internationally-oriented issues to help fulfill the mission of the Center. In exchange, interns receive valuable experience in the international arena and (optional) course credit. The InTeam assists the Center with its many projects, networks with businesses, education and cultural groups within the community, and interacts with delegates from Baton Rouge’s Sister Cities.

 

Grace Futrell

Grace Futrell is currently a senior at LSU. She is majoring in Anthropology and plans to become a Peace Corps Volunteer after graduating. In 2005, Grace traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa with a mission group to work with the people of Balfour. After the Peace Corps she plans to attend grad school.

 

 

Simeon Yerokun

Simeon Yerokun is currently a senior at LSU. He is majoring in International Studies with a focus in global diplomacy, Africa and the Middle East. He is also minoring in French. Upon graduation, Simeon plans to attend law school and focus on international law. He hopes to work for the United Nation or State Department in the future. Simeon is a member, and former membership chair, of LSU International Studies Society.

 

 

Emily Halk

Emily is a junior at LSU. She is an International Studies major, focusing on Western Europe and the Milddle East and minoring in Political Science and German. Emily hopes to one day work in the goverment intelligence sector with the National Security Administration (NSA) or the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). She is also a third degree black belt in Taekwondo, a member of LSU German Club and the Rifle Team.

 

 

Kelly Thompson

Kelly is a junior at LSU, majoring in International Studies and focusing on Diplomacy and the Middle East. He served in the United States Army from 2002 - 2007. Kelly aspires to work in Diplomatic Security with the State Department. He is currently the president of the LSU International Studies Society.

 

 

Lauren Nyman

Lauren is a sophmore at LSU, majoring in International Studies and Political Science and minoring in Spanish. Her focus is Global Diplomacy, Environment and Development, and Asia. Lauren plans to join the Peace Corps upon graduation and later attend graduate school. She aspires to work in diplomacy and one day run her own non - governmental organization (NGO). Lauren is a member of the LSU chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
